When it's OK to stereotype...

When most people think of that word it's usually in a negative context, but I think it can mean something different.  I think it's time we think of it wisely when we go about our day-to-day lives.  Let's think about the top 5 people you hang around with the most and think of many examples that are both good and bad:
  • If those 5 people drink alcohol, you just may drink as well
  • If those 5 people are religious, you just may be religious as well
  • If those 5 people are smokers, you just may start as well
  • If those 5 people play golf, you just may learn as well
  • If those 5 people are on unemployment, you just may become unemployed as well
  • If those 5 people watch sports, you just may start watching with them
  • If those 5 people are wealthy, you just may become wealthy yourself
  • If those 5 people rob a bank, you just may become an accomplice
  • If those 5 people have a positive outlook, you just may be optimistic
  • If those 5 people talk negatively, you just may be pessimistic
  • If those 5 people are gaining weight, you just may gain weight
  • If those 5 people stay in shape, you just may as well
  • If those 5 people do good, you will most likely do some good
  • If those 5 people do bad, you will most likely do some bad
The point is, we could go on all day with examples of what people all around us are doing every single day.  It's time that we really sit back and analyze our own personal goals, then the goals of our family and then the goals of the top 5 people we spend time with and make sure they are in line.  This doesn't mean we can't be friendly to everyone, it doesn't mean we put people down, it only means we get right with ourselves and lead the life we want to live and more importantly make sure our kids are choosing their top 5 wisely because everyone knows somebody that got caught with 5 people that may have led them astray at least once in their life.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thanks for reading!
