What could NO NBA mean to SLC?

SALT LAKE CITY will need your help!!! You may or may not know that the NBA and the Utah Jazz are in a lockout and we may be in danger of not having a NBA season. But that means a lot more than 10 guys not playing a game.

What does it actually mean?

  • It means that an entire arena in downtown SLC that is built to hold large gatherings at 41 Jazz season games, plus 5-10 preseason games and 5-15 playoff games, will sit empty for up to 60 nights of the year when it would be FULL.
  • It means that local businesses including restaurants, shopping outlets, TRAX, and more are losing a HUGE part of their business that they have come to depend on.
  • It means not only the players, coaches and staff are out of work, but all of the vendors and employees that work at Energy Solutions Arena are also affected deeply.
  • It means that some of those great traditions that we count on each year when we attend Jazz games with family and friends will be missing.
  • It means a lot to our Utah community and it means a lot to me and if we are in a situation where we do miss an entire year, most of us will be affected one way or another.
I know it’s only basketball but to some it’s more than that. It’s competition, it’s tradition, it’s income and livelihood, and it’s just overall FUN! So please pay attention to this moving forward and if we do miss the season, please try to make an effort to still visit the downtown SLC area over the next 6 months and enjoy all that is there and do your small part to help the local economy!!!

Thanks for reading!!!

Aaron
